One of the big bonuses of summer is the ability to sit out in the garden and drink pink wine whilst chatting as the sun goes down. My personal preference tends to be towards Spanish pinks, but I’m open to ideas.
We had a bottle of South African Shiraz Rose. I don’t normally seek out South African wines. Living in Europe it doesn’t make a great deal of sense.
This De Meye Shiraz Rosé was a lively colour, just off dry it smelled of strawberries and cream, with a floral hint.
It tasted almost like strawberry ice cream. It had a soda-pop-like quality, easy to drink.
I wouldn’t go out of my way to find this wine again, but I certainly wouldn’t avoid it.
