Villebois Sauvignon Blanc Prestige 2008

By | May 16, 2010

I really rather liked the standard Villebois when I first tried it, it was a pleasant surprise, good and fruity, strong backbone, reasonably priced.
I was excited to try the Prestige version from Naked Wines, it was more expensive and I expected more from it. We saved it for a Friday night.
Whilst I can appreciate that it may well be a finer product, and it may be that I’m common as muck, but any refinements seem to simply have removed the exhuberant fruitiness without adding any great flinty fabulousness. It just seemed duller, and I paid more for it, and had higher expectations of it, so it made me a smidge sad.
