I admit, I liked this wine because it had a paw print on it and when I was little my friend had a big dog called Kimba. He was a fabulous Alsatian who followed us everywhere and could run all day. I know that’s not a great reason to buy a wine, but it made me happy!
The wine itself was surprisingly good for one chosen on label and name alone.
Kimboa Sauvignon Blanc from Naked Wines is a bright Sauvignon Blanc with more fruitiness than usual, which came to the fore as it warmed a little. At about £6 it’s in the reasonable bracket for Sauvignons, offering something a little different from the crispness of New Zealand examples.
