Sometimes I’m in the mood for Chardonnay. Nothing fancy just good Australian Chardonnay. Not too much oak, not sweet just fat.
I gave this unoaked RedHeads Lot 5 Chardonnay a try. It seems to be made from wines from no specified vintage. Strange, and whilst that’s cool in Champagne, or even Sherry, it’s not normally a still wine thing.
The wine is pretty good though, it’s solid, uncomplicated, unoaked Chardonnay. It has a little creaminess, lots of melony peachiness and a smidge of cinnamon. It has 13.5% alcohol, quite restrained for Australian Chardonnay. It’s about £7-8 a bottle, which is a fair price.
