We had a Domaine du Mont Saint Jean Pinot Noir 2006 from Laithwaite’s with a game of Agricola. I don’t often see Corsican wines so it seemed worth go. It looked pale and interesting. It smelled of strawberries and raspberries with a little wet leaves but no cow poo so it’s more my kind of pinot.
It had a medium level of acidity and alcohol with a smooth and silky level of tannins. It tasted fruity, with some crushed blueberries added to the mix and a positive hint of forest rather than farmyard.
It’s not a big wine, and it’s not a hugely refined and elegant one, but it is a light and friendly one which would go just as well with a mushroom stroganoff as it does with a board game.
